Course Description: This course is designed to prepare students to be more
competent and able to apply nursing care in obstetrics critical situations
Course Objective: At the end of the course Students will be able to:
Advancing specialty knowledge and expertise in obstetric critical Care,
Describe invasive and noninvasive hemodynamic and oxygenation monitoring and assessment parameters for critical care management
Describe the pathophysiology of pregnancy complications that may result in critical illness during the peripartum period.
Demonstrate a sustained contribution to teamwork.
Demonstrate effective communication with the Women and family on ICU.
Course content:
Invasive and non-invasive hemodynamic and oxygenation monitoring and assessment parameters for critical care management
Pathophysiology of pregnancy complications. that may result in critical illness during the peripartum period, Intensive care unit (ICU)
High-risk pregnancy and complications of pregnancy that result in adult ICU admission.
Cardiac disease in pregnancy
Obstetric woman's shock and Infection leading to sepsis and septic shock
Hypertensive disorders of pregnancy and focuses on preeclampsia as a multiorgan system complication and eclampsia.
Pulmonary Problem requiring critical care in obstetrics.
Placenta Previa, Abruptio placenta. Uterine Rupture and Uterine Inversion.
Obstetric Hemorrhage and its management.
Preterm new-born.
