First Semester

Road pavement: flexible and rigid. Pavement structural design: CBR, TRL, and AASHTO Design methods. Pavement materials and testing: granular materials, bituminous materials, and asphalt concrete mixture. Pavement construction: construction equipment and construction stages. Highway drainage. Highway maintenance. Road quantity and costing.

This course will introduce students to prestressed concrete industry, the behavior and design of prestressed structures and provide them with the background needed to analysis and design of various prestressed concrete members and bridge design. Course topics include an overview of prestressing technology, loss of prestress, analysis of prestressed members, flexural and shear behavior/design of prestressed members, and deflections. The students will be introduced to bridge design and loading and design of bridge deck and piers foundation.
